Winslow, Arizona is a city in northwest Arizona. Perhaps best known for its mention in the opening line of the Eagles’ signature hit “Take It Easy,” Winslow offers far more than that mythic corner where the song’s narrator stood. Settled near an ancient Hopi village in 1880, Winslow was incorporated twenty years later, at which point it had become a major way station along the Santa Fe Railroad. By midcentury, the legendary Route 66 brought thousands more visitors to the area annually. Though Winslow suffered a decline in prominence after Route 66 was supplanted by the more expansive Interstate 40, the enduring popularity of “Take It Easy” and a revitalized tourist industry have brought renewed attention to Winslow in recent decades.
With a thriving historic downtown surrounded by the breathtaking natural scenery of the region, Winslow offers bountiful opportunities for recreation, entertainment, sightseeing and leisure. Popular downtown attractions include the First Street Pathway, a landscaped walkway with monuments and historic exhibits, the restored La Posada Hotel, the “Standin’ On The Corner” park and the Old Trails Historical Museum. Nearby attractions include the historic Brigham City fort and Clear Creek, a naturally carved canyon where resident and visitors alike enjoy swimming, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Just north of town are Homlovi Ruins State Park, which features the striking remains of an ancient Anasazi pueblo village, and scenic Little Painted Desert Country Park. A growing city at the heart of Arizona’s eastern frontier, Winslow remains a wonderful place to live, work and relax.

In recent times, Arizona has become a major warm-weather tourist and retirement destination, much like Florida. A major part of the tourism industry is based on the presence of the Grand Canyon. Climate
Due to its great size and variations in elevation, the state of Arizona has greatly varying climate conditions from one area to another. Population:
One of the fastest-growing states in the nation, Arizona has a population of over 6.1 million, an increase of more than 1 million since the year 2000. The state's population is largely concentrated in the metropolitan areas of Phoenix and Tucson, the state's two largest cities. While there are smaller population centers around Yuma (in the southwest corner) and Flagstaff (in north-central Arizona), vast areas of the state remain largely uninhabited, due in great part to the desert climate.
